HIDDEN PICTURES, by Jason Rekulak

Totally spooky pictures, fast-paced writing. Pretty much un-put-downable except when I was hiding in my closet from sheer dread!

Hidden Pictures by Jason Rekulak

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I believe the word most often used to describe Rekulak’s writing is “propulsive.” This is DEAD ON… in so many ways!

We meet the ‘junkie” Mallory Quinn first: high on oxy while taking part in a college research study. She aces the “awareness” test, blindfolded: the doctor in charge is ecstatic!

Alas, when Mallory leaves the campus research lab, she almost immediately disappears down the rabbit-hole of drug addiction.

On a seemingly brighter note, the very next chapter speeds ahead and finds Mallory 18 months sober and prepping for a job interview. A VA vet psychiatrist and her engineer husband decide to give Mallory a chance and hire her as a nanny for their introverted young son – who may have a few behavioral issues of his own to deal with!

I am not going to go into any more details, because you really do need to go into this blind.

I just want to say that all of those spooky bits had my heart pounding so hard that I had to start speed reading the pages just to survive them!

I highly recommend this to fans of horror and the supernatural. Stephen King gave it a glowing thumbs up: can’t argue with that!
